In September 2000, assainternational^®, Inc. organized a very successful workshop, IWPCPS^®-1, in Lancaster, PA on 'Physical Characterization of Pharmaceutical Solids'. This conference combined teaching and information exchange on basic and advanced solid-state characterization topics and techniques used in pharmaceutical industry. The workshop attracted 160 participants.

An exhibition for instrument manufacturers was set up to demonstrate the latest instrument and software developments for the field.
