Innovative SPECTROSCOPY

JOBIN YVON is based on one of the worldwide eldest optical companies, founded for the production of optical components to determine the quality of the light and its interaction with the material. For all that ideas of prominent pioneers in optics like e.g. FRESNEL, ARAGO, REGNAULT, BABINET have been realized. In 1893 AMÉDÉÉ JOBIN bought the company and gave it to his son-in-law GUSTAVE YVON, who leaded it until 1961 under the name JOBIN YVON.

Since 1974 JOBIN YVON is part of the internationally known holding INSTRUMENTS S.A. for production of systems for the research with subsidiaries in Germany, England, Italy, the Netherlands and the USA. During the next years the companies SPEX, DILOR und SOFIE came to this holding, all well-known by spectroscopic researchers.

1997 INSTRUMENTS S.A. becomes part of the world wide operating Japanese holding HORIBA, and covers today with its products nearly all parts of the optical spectroscopy.

The company JOBIN YVON GMBH is the European exclusive representation of the short pulse lasers by Clark-MXR.

Clark-MXR, Inc. is one of the leading producers of Femto- and Picosecond Amplifier systems for research and industrial applications. Since the invention of the CPA-Technology ("Chirped Pulse Amplification") in 1985 Clark-MXR consequently made further developments in this technology and Clark-MXR is one of the driving forces in optimising these systems. The market introduction of the CPA-200x Series, the first compact and integrated amplifier systems in 1997 was one of the milestones in this development and underscores the prime role of Clark-MXR. As an example, diodes with a lifetime of up to 20 years are used for as pump diodes in the CPA-200X systems. The outstanding ease-of-use leads to new applications. Further product lines for the Femtosecond field like frequency converting systems, pulse analysing systems, pulse modifying systems etc. round up the product range.

TSI GmbH

TSI GmbH of Aachen, Germany, is a corporate sales and service offices of TSI Incorporated located in St. Paul, Minnesota (USA). TSI Incorporated has about 800 employees world-wide. TSI designs and manufactures a variety of particle instruments.

Our Powder Instruments line includes products for dry solid particle size analysis, powder flowability analysis, and chemical composition analysis. These unique instruments have an emphasis on high-resolution quantitative results and simple operation. Multiparameter instruments provide information covering size, shape, charge and composition of particles and powder flowability. For modern physical characterization of pharmaceutical solids, particularly in the areas of drug discovery, formulation, and quality control we offer:

* Model 3603 Particle Size Distribution Analyzer (PSD) The PSD 3603 is a powerful, single-particle-counting analyzer for characterizing pharmaceutical powders and medical aerosols according to particle size. It measures dry, unprepared powders in the range from 0.3 to 500 micrometers in diameter using an aerodynamic time-of-flight technique. Key features include software with raw-data security that is useful in obtaining compliance with 21 CFR, Part 11; high-resolution measurements; fast setup and cycle time; complete dispersion without milling; and repeatable results. This powerful instrument provides fast, reliable measurements using a very small sample size. Multiple tests are possible, even when sample quantities are limited. A robust, easy-to-use analyzer, the PSD 3603 is designed and built to meet the rigorous demands of pharmaceutical manufacturers.

* Model 3250 Aero-Flow™ Powder Flowability Analyzer The Aero-Flow™ powder flowability analyzer removes the uncertainties associated with measurement of the most commonly observed but never well characterized properties of powders, that of powder cohesion. This completely automated instruments does away with the traditional and subjective "slump-test" providing the industry with an objective, quantitative measure of powder flowability and cohesivity.

* Model 3980 Gas-Phase Electrophoretic-Mobility Macromolecule Analyzer (GEMMA) The GEMMA method is a powerful new tool for high-speed size analysis of macromolecules. GEMMA offers proven utility in a variety of biological and pharmaceutical applications. The list includes characterization of proteins, glycoproteins, protein aggregates, protein-protein interaction products, high-mass noncovalent protein complexes, whole viruses, whole cell organelles, micelles, drug vehicles, break-down products of macromolecules (consistency analysis), and nanoparticles of biological importance. Interchangeable columns allow coverage of an extremely wide dynamic size range, from approximately 8 kDa (monomer of insulin) to over 100 MDa (whole-cell organelles and some viruses). In addition to providing size analysis of macromolecules, GEMMA is also capable of passing a constituent macromolecule of the distribution to other applications by means of a continuous flow.

C3-Analysentechnik GmbH / Thermometric AB

C3-Analysentechnik GmbH is the German distributor for calorimeter manufacturer Thermometric AB from Sweden, both companies present the TAM III system- the new generation of the TAM microcalorimeter system.

TAM III is a multichannel microcalorimetric system used to investigate stability, compatibility, amorphicity, polymorphism, binding and many other characteristics of compounds that are important to the pharmaceutical industry. Stability data can be obtained within hours in contrast to many other techniques, which requires accelerated conditions to obtain data within a comparable time frame. TAM III is an ideal tool for compatibility screening at ambient temperatures and humidities without the need to dissolve or in other ways alter the sample prior to analysis. Quantitative and qualitative investigations of amorphicity and crystallinity are of particular interest, much due to the high sensitivity of TAM. TAM III can detect amorphous amounts of less that 1%. A study of the kinetic and energetic relationships between polymorphic forms is yet another application where transition can be monitored in real time at isothermal conditions. TAM III can be used in slow scanning mode (e.g. 2 K h-1) with a temperature resolution that widely exceeds that of conventional DSC. This is of particular interest for studies of glass transitions of amorphous samples as well as phase transitions of polymorphs and hydrates.
