Hecus M.Braun is a leading developer and supplier of instrumentation for X-ray scattering. The product line includes industrial-standard camera systems for simultaneous small- and wide-angle X-ray scattering, both for nanostructural phase property mapping / high-throuput screening in the R&D laboratory, and for on-line, continuous process control in chemical production.

Latest research into X-ray optics and advanced application modes of X-Ray scattering techniques at HECUS has resulted in a development of a new SAXS/SWAXS System3.

Customer support includes special training courses and expert advice with particular applications, ranging from powders to soft condensed matter, and to macromolecular solutions.

Product Portfolio:
1. Dynamic Vapour Sorption - DVS
Since the introduction of Dynamic Vapour Sorption (DVS) in 1994, the world of moisture and vapour sorption measurement has been revolutionised. The DVS range of instruments provides fully automated, rapid, accurate measurements of gravimetric moisture and organic vapour uptake in solid materials. The ability to work with very small sample sizes combined with a dynamic flow of humidified gas, means that moisture sorption isotherms can be measured in a matter of hours or days rather than weeks or months.
The Dynamic Vapour Sorption - Instrument Concept.
constantly being updated and improved.
2. Inverse Gas Chromatography (iGC)

The new revolutionary iGC from SMS is the world first commercial inverse gas chromatograph. The unique SMS flow control technology * provides the state-of-the-art in humidity control together with unrivalled accuracy and reproducibility. The standard instrument configuration comes with a thermal conductivity detector (TCD) and a flame ionization detector (FID) : this combination allows differentiation between moisture and organic solvent elutants. Further detectors (e.g. Mass Spectrometer) may be added according to customer requirements.

3. VGI 2000M - Accurate humidity control for spectroscopy and microscopy
The SMS microscope VGI is a custom-built accessory that allows the user to precisely control the temperature and humidity environment of a microscopy sample. The VGI2000M is designed for use with ultra-long working distance objectives, having working distances of 6mm or greater and using standard microscope slides as the sample mounting. For optical microscopy, the illumination techniques of transmission and reflection are supported whilst the viewing techniques of bright-field, dark-field and cross-polarised light can be applied. The VGI can also be used in conjunction with FTIR and Raman microscopes.

Toyo Corporation presents the TAM III Thermal Activity Monitor.
The TAM III is a new generation multi-channel microcalorimetric system from Thermometric AB, Sweden. It can monitor tens of nano watt level of heat flow induced by chemical and/or physical reactions of solid and liquid samples at isothermal condition.

TAM III can be used to obtain reliable stability data of pharmaceutical substances at temperature range of 10-150 degree C and at arbitrary humidity level.

Stability data can be obtained within a week. Other applications include compatibility screening, quantitative and qualitative investigations of amorphicity or crystallinity and studies of the energetic of crystal polymorphism.
